Having a job and earning money is a requirement to survive in our world. If one is working hard to earn money, of course, one should and is paid, but should a gender pay gap exist? What is the need for it?
About 47% of employed people are women, and only a handful has spoken out about the gender pay gap, but that does not mean if no one is concerned about this issue.
In 1963 President John F. Kennedy acknowledged the equal pay act. Australia obtained an equal pay act in 1969. The human rights organization states at that time; women were granted equal pay as men. Looking at statistics, it shows that the gender pay gap is decreasing, but I ask you, why is there a gender pay gap in the first place? Is there a need for it? It most definitely does not benefit anyone. Between the years 1999 and 2019, the national gender pay gap has been the lowest at an additional 13.9% during the year 2019 and the highest at a whopping 18.5% during the year 2014. these numbers may seem small, but why do any women have to receive less pay for the same work a man has done.
The gender wage gap does not only affect the amount of money a woman earns, but it can also have a profound effect on a woman's mental health; this what health experts have to say.
